Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

We had our first snow last week!  It came down so fast during the first hour, it seemed like we would get the 1-3 inches predicted by the local weathermen.  My sister lives about 150 miles north of us and they were supposed to get 3-5 inches.  They ended up with over 10 inches!!!  The snow was so wet and heavy, it snapped the power lines, leaving 9000 without power for many long, cold hours.  Kathy and her family finally had the power restored 26 hours after it first went out!

We, on the other hand, were much luckier.  The snow tapered off after that first couple of hours, leaving us with about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of the wet stuff.  It was beautiful, though, like a Christmas snow.  The flakes were about the size of a quarter!

The first 3 photos are taken from our porch, looking across to the old high school gymnasium.  See how fast and heavy the snow was coming down?!  In the last one, I'm trying to capture the size of the flakes.

Here are some pins I found on Pinterest, featuring...SNOW!

Here's Vaughn Monroe singing "Let It Snow." You might remember a slightly different version of this song on the first DIE HARD with Bruce Willis.  Don't forget to pause my music listed at the bottom, before listening to this!

I found this sweet little felt ornament on Pinterest the other night.
It has "Christmastime" written all over it!

I think I might try my hand at making some of these for our tree this year.  There are a few other ornaments that I want make that I found there.  That's what's so great about Pinterest - so many wonderful ideas available!

I'm also linking with Natasha's Pinning and Singing Weekend Party.

For my song, here's one I grew up with...
There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays by Perry Como.
It brings back lots of great memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas!

There must be something wrong with Pinterest this week.  All I've seen so far on my blog and others' is the link, no pictures!  Hope they fix it soon!!!

Thanks to Natasha, I've discovered Pinterest!  I don't know whether or not to be happy about this!  It seems that's all I do anymore!  I saw a pin similar to this one I made, but I couldn't get it to resize correctly, so I made my own.  Anyone else feel this way???  If so, feel free to take this button! :)

Take care and God Bless!

SOME GAVE ALL & a Super BIG Thank You to Natasha in Oz

Hey Everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted here.  Will have to get back into it, Christmas is just around the corner!!!

First off, I have to say a SUPER BIG THANK YOU to Natasha in Oz!!!  I won her giveaway last week of a scrapbooking program, My Memories Suite version 2!  I was so amazed, I had to re-read her email to me several times.  I even check out her blog, 5 Minutes Just for Me

Yes, there it was!  My name, my blog, and I had won!  Wow!  Thank you so much, Natasha!

Now, for my song selection this week for Natasha's Pinning and Singing Weekend Party, I've gone Patriotic.

This Sunday is Patriot's Day here in America, and also the 10th (yes, it's been 10 years!) anniversary of the attacks on our country: The World Trade Center (Twin Towers), Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon.

This song, SOME GAVE ALL, is about all the people who gave their lives since September 11th, 2001.  Maybe you know someone who perished in one of the three attacks.  My deepest sympathies go out to all of you!

Flight 93 hit home for me, literally.  Shanksville is only about 15 miles from where my mother and all her family grew up.  My Aunt Sally and her family still lived there at the time.  Believe me, I was worried about them and their safety.

I'm so deeply sorry for the lives lost on Flight 93, but so deeply grateful for their courage and patriotism in giving their lives so the hijackers could not fulfill their objective of crashing the plane into the Capitol or the White House!
I'll never forget the story of Todd Beemer and his heroic statement of "let's roll" before he and his fellow selfless passengers charged the cockpit of Flight 93!

Take care and God Bless!

♬♪ What Child is This? - Mormon Tabernacle Choir ♫♭ (P&S Natasha in Oz)

Good Evening All!

Natasha in Oz has done a little revamping of Sunday Song.  Sunday Song is no longer, but will be Pinning and Singing on the Weekend.  You'll have to check out all the changes over at 5 Minutes Just for Me.

Natasha has a wonderful Christmas blog, too, Keeping the Christmas Spirit Alive, 365.  Please check out both!  You'll be happy you did!

This week I've chosen "What Child is This" by the Morman Tabernacle Choir.

Lyrics by William Chatterton Dix, 1865
Music by Henry VIII, King of England.  The original was known as "Greensleeves."

1. What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
2. Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
3. So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.

Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

I hope you enjoy this weekend's selection, and remember the Babe, our Lord.

Take care and God Bless!
